  Students chose from Interactive Workshops designed to expand horizons and sharpen skills. Most workshops are small and stress interactive, experiential learning. Workshops are challenging, but not overwhelming, and may require occasional out of class preparation. Enthusiastic professional teachers and artisans make learning meaningful, exciting and fun.

• Health, Safety & Security

  Student health, safety and security are our primary concerns. UCLA and Georgetown University,  have been chosen for their safe, suburban locations, excellent campus security, and traditional collegiate atmosphere. All campuses feature a major university medical center and hospital complex and specialists available 24 hours a day. Jr Discovery staff accompany students to all medical facilities.

• Constant Communication - We're Always in Touch

  Jr Discovery features a fully operational office within our residence hall, open 7 days a week. In addition, the staff may be reached through cell phone, and the Directors by cell phone and e-mail. Each room is equipped with a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.

• New Friends, New Roommates

  Most Jr Discovery students attend alone, so meeting people and making new friends is easy. All students and staff live in one residence hall. This "One Dorm, One Community" concept ensures greater safety and sociability. Roommates are selected by the staff of Jr Discovery after students complete a detailed Personal Profile. Mutual roommate requests will be honored.

• Be an Individual and part of a Group

  At Jr. Discovery, we let you be yourself. Bring your sketch book if you would like, or a guitar, flute, baseball glove, or lacrosse stick. But most importantly, bring an open mind. You'll meet and interact with new people from all over, and enjoy a diverse and fascinating group.

• Beyond the Classroom (A Truly All-Inclusive Tuition)

  Your tuition includes more than just workshops, room, and board. Extra-curricular activities, excursions and trips are provided at no additional charge. UCLA, and Georgetown University are superbly located in close proximity to world class cultural, entertainment, and recreational attractions. All admissions, transportation, and supervision to/at these activities and excursions are included in your tuition. There is no mandatory "drawing account" or "special events" fee. At Jr. Discovery, every day, night, and weekend is a "special event" that is included in our outstanding programming.

• World Class Sports & Recreation

  UCLA and Georgetown University feature some of the world's best facilities for practice, intramurals, and pick-up play. Whether it is running around the track, shooting some hoops, swimming some laps, or climbing the stair master, the choice is yours.

• Helping Others - DiscoveryWorks Community Service

  Jr. Discovery students have the opportunity to serve the greater college community. Group volunteer projects may include working with children and the elderly or painting a day care center. Students may also enroll in the DiscoveryWorks Community Service Interactive Workshop.

• It's a Small World After All

  Jr. Discovery students are part of a dynamic teenage/middle school community, living and learning with peers from all over the USA and the world. Mutual respect and acceptance of other cultures, different ethnic backgrounds, and religions are important parts of the Jr. Discovery experience. Students must respect the feelings, rights and property of others, attend all workshops and required group meetings, activities and excursions. Students are responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of residence hall rooms and adhering to the rules and regulations set forth by Jr. Discovery.  Please note: Each JR. DISCOVERY program operates separately from our SUMMER DISCOVERY high school programs, with its own accommodations, courses, activities and staff.

• What we provide? - Almost Everything!

  Blankets, pillows, and linens are provided for all students. Washers and dryers are plentiful in our residence hall, and lessons are available. Students bring comfortable, casual clothes, an alarm clock, a notebook and their unique personalities. Suggested clothing and accessory lists are mailed in the spring.
